How we know
Xcout Intel loads the US Department of Labor's H-1B (LCA) and PERM disclosure files since FY2020 and matches each filing employer to a company. The latest fiscal year in the files is still in progress, so the ranking uses the last complete one.

What this does not show
- A labor condition application is not a visa: one application can cover several workers, and many never become visas. Say "H-1B applications filed", not "visas sponsored".
- IT-services and consulting firms that place workers with clients file the most; many are in neither the Fortune 500 nor the S&P 500.
- Employers are counted under the name they filed with, so one group can appear under several entities.
